The Idaho / Washington Democratic Women will meet on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Hells Canyon Grand Hotel in Lewiston. Lunch will be available starting at 11:30 and the meeting will begin at noon.
This month’s speakers are Jeanie Pittman and Lindsey Smalley. Jeanie and Lindsey both have extensive experience in the child care field. They will speak on the impacts to vulnerable families caused by the recent holdbacks and threats of holdbacks of childcare subsidies by both Federal and State governments. One question they will explore is, “What or who does childcare benefit – parents, businesses, the economy children?”
Jeanie Pittman is a retired faculty member of the Department of Human Development from WSU, former board member of Washington Association for the Education of Young Children, and was for nearly a decade a trainer to providers who care for low income families eligible for childcare subsidies.
Lindsey Smalley has spent 18 Years in the early childhood field working with children and families, including two years teaching early childhood education at WWCC and has owned her own childcare center in the LC Valley for 10 years. She has an associates degree in child development, a bachelors in psychology, and over 1,000 hours of continuing education in early childhood related topics.
The event is open to all – men and women alike. ID/WA Democratic Women is a very informal organization. There is no charge to attend. Lunch is available from the hotel buffet.
