As we look ahead to the 2026 mid-term elections, we want to focus attention on several big issues that concern voters in Nez Perce County and the LC Valley.
There are “5 Big Issues” that you have told us about consistently:
- Affordability – cost of living, cost of housing, property taxes, etc.
- Health Care – availability, impact of legislation on rural communities, Medicaid cuts
- Safeguarding Public Lands
- Education – vouchers, public school funding
- Threats to Democracy – the SAVE Act and similar legislation, ICE, government attempts to limit free speech, etc.
There are certainly others that we read and hear about, but we believe these 5 issues are ones that we Democrats will have strong opinions about and where our Democratic candidates will have clear stances that differentiate them from our opponents.
In each issue of the NPC Dems Dispatch newsletter, we will be featuring articles about one or more of the big issues. We’ll try to clarify the issue, articulate our position on it, and highlight what we’re hearing from the candidates.
By doing this, we want to inform, educate and create opportunities for active participation by Lewis Clark Valley residents; to amplify our Democratic candidates’ positions; and to motivate Democrats, Independents, and rational Republicans to get to the polls on May 19 and November 3.
