Nez Perce and Asotin Counties Democrats are planning for the next rally/protest to be held on Thursday, July 17, from 5-7 p.m. The afternoon time will allow people to attend after work.
July 17 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the death of Rep. John Lewis. John Lewis was an influential leader in the Civil Rights era in the 1960’s. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Georgia in 1986 and served there until his death in 2020. He was known as “the conscience of Congress” and was well-known for advocating non-violent protests, an activity he called “good trouble”.

In 2011, President Barack Obama presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
John Lewis
On July 17, we will meet on the corner of 21st Street and 19th Avenue in Lewiston. You can park in the old K-Mart store parking lot and cross 21st street to the west side by Taco Time. You will see us!
Bring your signs, noise makers, and attitude. And bring water – it’s going to be warm.
Fishing for the Food Bank!
Everyone attending the rally is encouraged to bring a can of tuna. We will collect them and distribute to the Idaho Food Bank. This is an item that’s always on their ask list.
Thanks in advance!
