The Nez Perce Democrats Annual Picnic took place Wednesday, June 17, from 6:00pm until 8:30pm at Hereth Park in Lewiston. It was a warm, early summer evening, just perfect for a picnic.
A crowd of about 60 people enjoyed a potluck buffet that featured pulled pork bar-be-que, salads, casseroles, and a tempting assortment of desserts.
The traditional Dessert Auction took place after dinner. Auctioneers Rick Towsley and Dan Anderson kept a lively pace as they presented pies, cakes, cookies, and even some “No Kings Kahlua”. The bidding was just as spirited and by the end, we had raised $2,400 that will be used to support local candidates.
Candidates for Idaho Legislature, Districts 6 and 7, each took a few minutes to outline their platforms and priorities for the crowd. A special guest was Dr. Becky Sundin Mitchell, who is running for Idaho Superintendent of Education. As a career educator (she teaches 8th grade science), Becky brings depth of experience and innovative ideas to her campaign.
