I’m Rebecca McLaughlin, better known as Missy McLaughlin, and I am running for reelection as Nez Perce County Treasurer.
I have been a lifelong resident of Nez Perce County. I come from a blue-collar family that believes you earn what you work for-nothing is given. I’m a strong supporter of our local YWCA, 4-H and FFA programs, and just about anything that supports agriculture and our rural community.
I have worked for Nez Perce County for over 30 years-18 years in the Assessor’s Office and 12 years in the Treasurer’s Office, including the last 6 years serving as your County Treasurer. Prior to my career with the county, I served 8 years in the U.S. Army, with 4 years on active duty and 4 years inactive.
During my time as Treasurer, I made the decision to upgrade our outdated DOS computer system, selecting a state-funded program at no cost to taxpayers. I have also focused on strong, responsible investment strategies, generating an average of approximately $1 million per year in returns for the county.
In addition, I have closed more than 7 Public Administrator cases, helping bring closure to families while ensuring estates were handled properly and respectfully.
My goal has always been to serve the citizens of Nez Perce County with honesty, accountability, and strong financial stewardship. I would truly appreciate your continued support and the opportunity to keep working for you as your county Treasurer. Thank you.
