Editor’s Note: Pete Gertonson is well-known in Democratic circles across Idaho. He currently serves as the County Chair of the Nez Perce County Democrats. Pete has a wealth of knowledge about Idaho politics, a genuine interest in every person he meets, and the unique ability to lead while listening.
Personal Information
I was born in 1951 in Fall River, Massachusetts, while my dad was serving in the Navy on a weather ship in the North Korean sea. I’m 74 years old. My wife (Jerene) and I will be celebrating our 53rd anniversary this year! We have two daughters, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

- Graduated from Lewiston High School in 1971
- Idaho National Guard Army Veteran
- I persevered over a 15 year period, taking one class at a time, finally graduating from Lewis Clark State College in 2010, with a Bachelor of Science degree & a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
