Nez Perce Democrats Support Habitat for Humanity Project

On Monday, November 3rd, Nez Perce County Democrats brought together a non-partisan group of volunteers to help build a home with L-C Valley Habitat For Humanity. Our crew of 5 – Pete Gertonson, George Grenley, Jenny Teigen, Robin Weldy, and George Yeatter – were welcomed at the job site by Deborah Snyder, Executive Director of L-C Valley Habitat. The project for the morning was to help bring a new home being constructed at 1535 Alder Ave in Lewiston closer to completion for a well deserving family.

While Jenny and Robin worked on landscaping by raising the grade with rakes, hoes, shovels and a compactor, George, Pete, and George used drills, saws, and nail guns to build a wall and help complete the exterior wall OSB sheathing.

After four hours of gratifying work, we were all a little wet from the slight rain shower at the last hour and feeling blessed to have the opportunity to help those in our community with a hand up.  George Grenley was so inspired, he went back the next day to help the Habitat for Humanity team again.

We look forward to working with L-C Valley Habitat For Humanity again in the spring.
