The ID/WA Democratic Women will meet at 11:30am on Monday, October 6 at the Hells Canyon Grand Hotel in Lewiston. The featured speaker this month is Luke Mayville, the Co-founder and Executive Director of Reclaim Idaho, a grassroots organization with a mission to build an Idaho where government works for all Idahoans and not just those with the most money and political influence.

Reclaim Idaho spearheaded a successful 2018 ballot initiative to expand Medicaid coverage to 90,000 Idahoans.
In 2021, Reclaim Idaho won a landmark case in the Idaho Supreme Court that enshrined the ballot-initiative process as a fundamental right in the state of Idaho. In 2022, the organization led a campaign that successfully pressured Idaho lawmakers to make historic investments in Idaho K-12 education.
In the years since, Reclaim Idaho has worked to promote affordable healthcare, strong public schools, common-sense electoral reform, and ballot-initiative rights.
A current priority for the organization is the “Not A Dollar More!” initiative that seeks to stop the expansion of the $50 million private school voucher program signed into law earlier this year. We can expect to hear from Luke about the progress they are making.

Luke holds a PhD in political science from Yale University and has taught civics and political philosophy at Columbia University, American University, and Boise State University Honors College. He has written about the ideas of America’s Founding Fathers, including a book on President John Adams.
The event is open to all – men and women alike. ID/WA Democratic Women is a very informal organization. There is no charge to attend. Lunch is available from the hotel buffet.
